The Columbia Heights Lions Club has proudly sponsored the Columbia Heights Jamboree since 1974 — continuing a community celebration that began in 1934 as the “Heights Jubilee” to mark the opening of Central Avenue.

What started as a civic celebration featuring parades, speeches from governors and senators, talent shows, and community picnics has grown into one of Columbia Heights’ most cherished traditions.

When the original Activities Committee disbanded in 1974, the Lions Club stepped forward to ensure the Jamboree would continue. Since then, the Lions have organized and supported the parade, carnival, royalty programs, and family festivities — preserving a legacy that spans generations.

Through changing times, the mission has remained the same: bring neighbors together and celebrate the spirit of Columbia Heights.
